Work with them at your own risk!

They did not conduct the proper background checks on tenants they found for me and assured me it was ok since they were an insurance placement even though they had very poor credit due to unpaid bills (house supposedly burned down so their insurance covers their rental charge while they investigate).

Turns out the family (Carla, Barbara, Harry Smith) they found me were not the clean, gainfully employed, law abiding citizens they claimed to be!

The Houston police arson unit called me notifying me that this family has a history of fraud and got a warrant approved for arson and insurance fraud! (They claimed their house was burned down by a faulty tv wire when it was left on but investigators found out they burned their house down to collect insurance money!).

They were also investigating the fact that they were harboring a wanted felon (relative of theirs) in my house without telling me!

What a nightmare family to deal with and Renter's Warehouse did not help my situation at all! Thank goodness I evicted them because they changed the locks on my house without notifying me and later the police called me and began their hunt with their warrant in hand.

My agent, Jamie Hoffman, never made me feel like she was on my side; it made it feel like they only cared about the tenant client relationship and not looking out for the Landlord. This bad experience is a consequence of that bad feeling.

Horrible experience and I completely regret working with Renter's Warehouse.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $2480.

Location: Houston, Texas

Joey,

We apologize you are having a negative experience with your current tenant. As landlords ourselves we know all too well that there are some bad folks out there.

We do however want to respond to your inaccurate assessment of this particular situation.

At Renters Warehouse we run very thorough background checks for any tenants being placed into our homes. We run credit checks, criminal (state and national), verify income, rental history, public records, tax liens, judgements, and eviction records. As part of our process you were given the report to review personally as well as approved the tenants to move in.

Regarding the insurance and the claims of arson, this is an issue that arose after the tenant was occupying your home. At the time your approved tenants moved in, all parties were aware of the circumstances of why they needed to move. The burning of their home was discussed with you. We also had conversations with the insurance company and these accusations were not made at that time.

As part of your agreement with the tenant, you are also responsible for maintenance requests and we have had many calls from the placed tenants that you weren't doing necessary repairs. Renters Warehouse doesn't manage the property, per your request, we only placed the tenant.

We have tried to contact you via phone and email on multiple occasions without any response. We understand that now you think that there is a bad tenant, but we took the necessary steps with background & credit checks as well as well as a final approval from you.

We feel like the fact that we have tried to contact you multiple time and have had no response that this "online blast" is unfair and unwarranted.

Thank you, Renters Warehouse Customer Team
